Nuts cake recipe

Delicious and simple cake, Nuts cake recipe belong in “older generation”. 

In earlier times there was not so much choice of exotic fruit such as today, because of that this cake was often on the table of the northern part of the Balkans.

First make Nuts cake crust. Butter, egg yolks and sugar mix until the mixture becomes foamy. Beat egg whites in “snow” add ground almonds, melted chocolate and crumbs. Now all this mix together.

The mold for the cake coated with butter and pour the mixture. Bake at 160-170°C for 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick if it is baked in the middle. If the toothpick is wet bake a little more. Remove the crust from oven and leave to cool a little, then cut into three parts.

Yellow filling, mix egg yolks, sugar and milk over medium heat the mixture becomes thick. Finally add the vanilla extract or sugar, grated lemon peel and rum, leave to boil. Beat the butter and then add the butter in colled filling.

Brown filling, in a small pot add the egg yolks and mix with sugar, then add the chocolate, flour and let it warm up on medium heat with constant stirring until it boils. Add ground walnuts and almonds and cook a while longer.

When the creams are completely cool, fill up the Nuts cake.

For glaze, over low heat melt butter, mix in the chocolate (small pieces), sugar and add rum. Stir until you get desired density. Leave to cool and then cover over the entire cake.

Place the cake in the refrigerator to cool.

Nuts cake you can decorate to your taste. (with whipped cream, nuts or something else)
